New Delhi: Manoj Bajpayee has admitted that before witnessing Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan’s dance, he had great love for dancing and had considered showcasing his skills on screen.
On a recent episode of the talk show ‘The Bombay Journey X Sunday Brunch’, the actor, who will soon be featured alongside Sharmila Tagore in the upcoming streaming movie ‘Gulmohar’, made an appearance.
Speaking of his love of singing on the show, he said,”Since I’m from theatre, there used to be a prerequisite that an artiste should know how to sing. Main naachta bhi tha (I used to dance as well).”
Manoj said that he has experience dancing the Chhau. “Main Chhau dance mein trained hoon par fir jab maine Hrithik ko dekha toh maine socha aaj se dancing ka khwaab band (I’m trained in Chhau dance but when I saw Hrithik performing, my dreams of dancing were shattered). I was like ‘Ab ye nahi seekh sakta main’ (I can’t learn this now),” he said.
Recently, in the second installment of ABP Network Ideas of India, Manoj Bajpayee sat down to discuss his journey from a small Bihar town to stardom. The actor talked about his journey as he remembered how challenging it was when he first started. “Jab main delhi university mein padta hai tab 6 bus badalni padti tab kisi library mein kahi jake dhundhni padti thi koi kitab… aur ab sab kuch aapke hath mein hai (when I studied at Delhi University, if we had to get a particular book, we had to change 6 buses to get to a particular library or person and now everything has changed.),” he said.
The actor is known for his films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Satya’, ‘Aligarh’, ‘The Family Man’.
Meanwhile, Sharmila Tagore makes her movie comeback in ‘Gulmohar’, which also features Manoj Bajpayee. From March 3, the movie will be available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
